World Courier: Clinical Trial Management and Pharmaceutical R&D Seminar
World Courier will host its 18th International Seminar on Global Clinical Trial Management and Pharmaceutical R&D in Beijing, China on June 5, 2009.
Bringing together senior pharmaceutical executives and practitioners, industry leaders and government officials, key topics for discussion will include regulatory concerns, drug development facilitation, and conducting trials in emerging markets such as China, India and East Asia.
High research and development costs in developed countries have sparked growing interest in China where clinical trials can cost 30 percent less than in the US. Drug development can total just 10 percent of western spending, reports Allen Yan, GM for World Courier (Shanghai).
Currently representing a US$15 billion market for pharmaceutical products, China is on track to become the world's fifth largest single pharmaceutical market by 2010. “The biopharm industry in China has grown by 20 percent in the past five years,†says Yan. “Our aim is to bridge the gaps in service and infrastructure to meet demand from global pharmaceutical companies choosing to conduct more cost-effective research in China.â€
