Viralytics appoints non-executive director

Dr Leonard Post has been appointed as a non-executive director of Viralytics. 

Dr Post has extensive experience in oncolytic viruses and virotherapy having been a past director of and consultant to Biovex, recently acquired by Amgen. He was also senior vice president of R&D at Onyx Pharmaceuticals which was one of the first companies involved in the development of targeted oncolytic viruses. Prior to this, his experience covers almost 20 years with large international pharmaceutical companies.

Dr Post has a strong commercial background which includes founding US-based LEAD Therapeutics in 2007 which was subsequently acquired by BioMarin Pharmaceuticals in 2010. He currently holds the position of chief scientific officer of BioMarin Pharmaceuticals. He is also an advisor to a well known Australian based venture capital firm.

Dr Post is a director of two USA-based biotechnology companies and has been a member of a number of scientific advisory boards.  He has a PhD in virology from the University of Chicago and was adjunct professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Michigan, USA. He has published over 60 peer reviewed scientific publications and is an inventor on numerous patents.
