Intas Biopharma to Market Drug for Multiple Myeloma
India-based oncology drug marketing company, Intas Biopharmaceuticals, has launched Bortezomib injection, under the brand name Borviz, in the Indian market. The injection offers treatment for Multiple Myeloma, the second-most common cancer of plasma cells (blood).
The company has also launched its sales division “Bridgeâ€, to strengthen its brands of drugs and focus on specific therapeutic areas. The focus is on drugs that cater to Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and Multiple Myeloma.
Bortezomib is growing in Indian market at 25 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). Out of 20,000 new cases, approximately 20 percent of patients receive treatment.
The domestic oncology market is $225 million, and is expected to reach $850 million by 2012, growing at a CAGR of nearly 30 percent.
The introduction of new treatments, an increasing number of patients on chemotherapy and evidence that more people are gaining access to modern targeted therapies, will contribute to a growth of 12 to 15 percent in the sales of cancer drugs.
