Fast Lyophilisation Technique for HPLC Samples
Genevac has developed a fast lyophilisation technique for preparing weighable samples from difficult-to-dry High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) purification fractions.
Using HPLC purification methods involving solvents such as water or Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), life science researchers regularly encounter a significant number of samples that do not dry well post purification.
Typically, these stubborn samples form a gum or oil that creates problems including accelerated sample degradation (due to residual solvent) and difficulty in accurate weight determination. Using a Genevac HT Series evaporator and LyoSpeed technology, HPLC fractions can be concentrated to a few millilitres and then frozen and rapidly lyophilised to produce a diffuse dry powder, which can easily be re-dissolved or weighed out.
