Elder Pharmaceuticals Moves Operations

Mumbai-based, Elder Pharmaceuticals has commenced commercial operations at its US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliant manufacturing facility, located in Uttarakhand.

The company plans to move to this facility, the manufacture of all syrup-based products which are now being manufactured in excise applicable areas or that are being outsourced.

This will not only result in higher turnover but also cost savings. The facility has production lines for liquid orals, sterile injectables, Cephalosporin block for tablets as well as dry powder injectables. The range of products that are planned to be manufactured at the facility include Shelcal syrup, Eldervit syrup, Enzar liquid, Mucodyne syrup, Eldervit Injection, and anti-infective tablets mainly of cephalosporins like Formic-O.

Alok Saxena, director, said, “We expect the new facility to add 15 percent to our revenues. Injectables offer a good opportunity both for the domestic as well as export markets. We also expect significant cost advantages by centralizing production at this facility.”
