AMT Starts Development of LPLD Diagnostic Tool

Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics (AMT) and Progenika Biopharma have entered into a development and commercialization agreement for LPLchip, a diagnostic tool to rapidly diagnose patients with complete and partial Lipoprotein Lipase Deficiency (LPLD).

The former has developed Glybera as a gene therapy for patients with this disease. It intends to file the therapy for marketing approval with European Medicines Agency (EMEA) by the end of this year.

LPLchip is based on the Progenika’s DNA-chip technology, and will be used to rapidly diagnose patients with complete and partial LPLD. It will be important to effectively identify patients that could benefit from Glybera .
