Siemens has been awarded a lump-sum multi-million dollar contract to supply the automation for the Singapore Recombinant plant of Baxter Bioscience Manufacturing.

The former will provide basic and detail engineering services and will deliver, install and commission the automation system, process instruments and motor control centers.

The former's concept of Totally Integrated Automation will allow an integration of all devices and components, based on Profibus and Industrial Ethernet communication.

The system architecture enables specific extension of process control functions through seamless integration of extensive supplemental functionality, eg, for batch process automation, material transport control, asset management, security applications, process data analysis/management or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) tasks.
