Qiagen said it has been selected by Shanghai Biochip Corporation (SBC) as a primary partner to supply various small interfering RNA (siRNA) library sets.

SBC will use these library sets for setting up the first siRNA high-throughput screening center in China.

siRNAs are synthetic RNA assay molecules which have the ability to turn genes "on" and "off" (RNA interference, RNAi).

They are used for functional gene analysis and thus play a major role in drug development.
